News of the moves and promotions for our brilliant people: -

Matt Cotter, McMullen's 2010 Manager of the Year and until recently Manager of The Peahen in St Albans, has become an Area Manager for the company. Matt now has responsibility for the McFayre group of pubs - the great-value, family-focused food pubs that McMullen operates. Most have spacious outdoor areas with lots of kids play equipment, which makes these pubs particularly popular during the summer.

Alex Wells, Manager of The Jolly Fisherman, near Ware, is moving in May to take over as Manager at The White Horse in Burnham Green. Meanwhile, Ian Gill, Manager until now at The Sun, Hoddesdon, is moving to become Manager at The Bull at Broxbourne. Both Alex and Ian won McMullen Business Growth Awards in last year's annual awards, which means they achieved outstanding success, and have won well-deserved promotions.

Rob Kelly, who was Assistant Manager at The Hare in Harlow, has been promoted to General Manager. Rob first joined McMullen as a bar person at the age of 18 in 2000. He has developed his passion and skills for both liquor and food service and knowledge at The Salisbury Arms in Hertford, and Baroosh in Hertford. He rejoined the team at The Hare as Assistant Manager, then under the management of Dave and Jennie Higgins, where he completed his MITP (Gold) training in 2009. After Dave and Jennie were given the new Chieftain pub to manage (see page 12), Rob was the obvious choice to succeed them.

In other moves, Tom Dennis has been appointed to replace Matt Cotter as Manager of The Peahen in St Albans. Meanwhile, Peter Robinson has been promoted from Assistant Manager to Relief Manager, and Trish Foley has also been appointed Relief Manager.
