Salisbury Arms
For over 650 years, The Salisbury Arms Hotel has been the ‘crown of the town’ in Hertford. A grade II listed building, it was formerly known as ‘The Bell’, and if you look on the front external wall you can see a plaque commemorating this. In 1891, the building was purchased by the McMullen family custodianship from Lord Salisbury.
Our award-winning designers have restored our listed building back to it’s original beauty, with the addition of a stunning garden terrace for alfresco drinking and dining all year round. You can enjoy a luxury dining experience in the dining room or full table service in our cosy bar, next to one of our log burners. Our bookable snug boasts incredible, original period features. Our menu changes with the seasons and offers fresh, locally sourced dishes, premium wines and of course, our locally brewed beers.
Our boutique hotel rooms are individually designed, wonderous havens in which to rest your head with a mix of Signature, Boutique and Deluxe King rooms. Enjoy a night’s stay followed by incredible breakfast, roaring fires and a local paper. Breakfast and brunch are also available to non-residents 7 days a week.
Afternoon tea is a must at the Salisbury, with delicious finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats, all prepared in house.

Private Hire, Birthdays and Events
Our rooms are available for private hire. We cater for formal dining events, drinks and nibbles or just drinks, whatever you prefer.
We can seat up to 50 guests in the Dining room or for smaller events, we can accommodate 15 seated guests in the Snug.
