ESTATE PROJECT MANAGER
I've worked for McMullen & Sons for over 20 years and, although things have changed dramatically in this time, I still get the same buzz now from successfully completing a development scheme as I did in the eighties. We have revisited some sites two or even three times to keep up with ever-changing consumer tastes and design trends. I trained at the Hertfordshire College of Building in St. Albans, obtaining an HND in Architecture and Building Surveying. I worked as a Property Maintenance Officer with British Gas for around 10 years before joining McMullen in 1985. In 1990 I left McMullen to join The Argyle Group - better known for Safeway Supermarkets - but as they say 'the grass is always greener on the other side, but when you get there it's still just green grass'. I was invited back to McMullen less than a year later as Estates Project Manager and ensure that our properties are maintained to a high standard, keeping pace with the needs of our operations team. We are a small but efficient team that deals with everyday maintenance issues, as well as large development schemes in excess of £2 million. If there's a problem, people ring Estates! It's my role to ensure value for money and quality, with minimum disruption to our customers.
