Krista and Karl
ORANGE TREE, HITCHIN
Krista and Karl joined McMullen’s in 2002 as Assistant Manager’s at the Saracen’s Head in Ware where they completed their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. Their first management position was at the Woolpack in Hertford, before they returned to the Saracen’s Head. In September 2007 they moved to the Orange Tree in Hitchin.
Prior to working for McMullen’s, Krista had worked for nine years at a manufacturing company, starting as a receptionist and working her way up to Manager of the Sales and Service Department. Karl had spent eight years in the Army and then worked as a self-employed building contractor. After making their decision to join the licensed trade and work together they made rapid progress into House Management.

Krista added “Karl and I have the same uncompromising standards as the Company, and we strive to pass these on to our enthusiastic teams through continuous training, it is what has helped us to create warm, friendly and safe environments at all of the pubs we have managed and which we have in place at the Orange Tree. Having come through the company’s training ourselves we also get a terrific buzz from seeing members of our team progress and take on their own pubs”
