Highlights of the role: So far the highlight has been the tour of McMullen’s Hertford Brewery. The passion Chris Evans has for the brewery and the pride he takes in brewing the perfect batch makes Macs an exciting place to be. Vince has also really enjoyed the Kitchen Confidence course with Rick Sunter and Paul Robbins where their passion for what they do really comes across, getting the team engaged while at the same time having fun. It has showed Vince what McMullen’s is about.
What makes McMullen’s the company of choice: McMullen’s is a real family business, not just because it still has family members working here, but how they treat their team members. The Area Managers and everybody at Head Office seem to take the time to get to know the team members when they can, from a simple hello and a hand shake to days out go-karting or sing-a-longs at the cinema!
Life prior to McMullen’s: Being a chef runs in the Handscombe family with Vince’s Mum and Gran having both worked in the hospitality business. When at school, his first part time job was as a Kitchen Porter for the local restaurant and Vince loved it! As they say, the rest is history. For the past seven years Vince has worked as an Accredited Kitchen Manager for Mitchells & Butlers helping develop the Miller & Carter steak house concept.
What is your favourite menu item: Vince is a big fan of traditional home cooking and loves a Sunday roast dinner!
