McMullen raise £576 for Mayor's Charity at Rock at the Castle

Over 10,000 visitors attended the free charity music festival “Rock at the Castle” on Sunday 6th August. The annual festival is held in the grounds of the Hertford Castle and attracts visitors from the local community as well as much further afield.

McMullen & Sons are very proud to be the headline sponsor of this year’s event along with associate sponsor Go Move, the event has quickly become one of the biggest days in the Hertford calendar. The Mac's Beer Bar was also present on the day as well as a visit from our locally famous Sentinel Steam Lorry serving a line up of our Real Ales. This included the historic AK, our 190th Anniversary brew 1827 and a special Festival Ale brewed for the event. A big thanks to the team from The Woolpack for hosting the bars.

This fantastic event is not only in place for all to have a great day at the iconic Hertford Castle in the glorious sunshine but also to raise funds for a chosen charity, this year being the Richard Hale School Appeal.

The Richard Hale School is celebrating their 400th anniversary this year, and donations made on the day will go towards the build and equipping of a state of the art sports hall which is set to be an invaluable asset for the students and staff of the school.

A grand total of £3,559 was raised for the school throughout the day, a fine example of what true community sprit can do in the heart of Hertfordshire.

The charitable day did not finish there as McMullen’s also promised £1 of every pint of Real Ale sold on the day to the Mayor of Hertford’s Charity, the Ancient Charities of Hertford, raising a total of £576 to go directly to the cause.
