Warm Your Boots With Bootwarmer!
There are a number of reasons why most people refer to the winter season as ‘the most wonderful time of the year’; a time for giving and receiving presents, for getting together with friends and family, and most importantly the return of our winter seasonal ale, Bootwarmer.
A regular appearance has been made from this full bodied winter ale since 1995, warming the bellies and boots of any that grab themselves a pint from a Macs House around the Home Counties. Bootwarmer is however one of a long line of popular strong ales Macs has been producing since the 1850’s. These include Mitre, McMullen's Dark Beer, Brown Ale and Olde Time Ale – now known as the award winning Stronghart.
Bootwarmer is by far the most popular of all the seasonals over the years. It is rumoured the name came from years ago when trainee Brewers had to climb into the vessels to clean out the cooled hops on a chilly winters day. Their perk afterwards was to put their feet up and warm them against the open fire in the Head Brewer’s office – hence the name Bootwarmer!
A dark ruby coloured and full-bodied winter ale full of rich flavours. Delicately balanced with subtle roasted and chocolate aromas, finished with an exceptionally smooth and enriching aftertaste. 4 out of 5 for bitterness and 3.5 out of 5 for sweetness.
For the connoisseurs out there, in the brewing process we of course only use the whole leaf flower hops including; Progress, Bramling Cross and Fuggles.
Bootwarmer will match to any winter dish, included puddings and cheese because of its rich full flavour. Sunday roasts, curry dishes, stews and game pie and of course your classic Christmas dinner!comments powered by Disqus
