I'm part of the Destination Inns family!
A McMullen house since 1936, the name is of unknown origin. Since the building’s deeds bear a covenant from 1936 demanding that the Cock O’ the North ‘be not built as an asylum’, there is clearly some colourful history attached to the place! What we can be sure of, though, is delivering seriously relaxed dining.
We serve glorious food with Chef-selected fresh daily additions, aspirational wines, McMullen cask ale, world lagers, and a range of classic cocktails.
All that comes delightfully wrapped up in this beautifully designed, comfy pub crammed full of private nooks and crannies that promise intrigue and comfort as well as roaring log fires and a secret garden.

Valentine's at the Cock o' the North
This Valentine’s Day, make it a night to remember with our show-stopping 18oz Côte de Bœuf, perfect for sharing and packed with indulgent flavours. Available 12th-14th February, it’s served with: confit garlic butter, Koffmann’s skin-on fries, crispy onions, watercress, beef dripping & beer gravy. A true Valentine’s centrepiece for steak lovers.
