A special brew for a Special Day
On Monday 16th April, the McMullen Brewery is launching a very special brew in collaboration with the Willow Foundation, “Special Days”.
Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days. Founded by former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter, Bob Wilson and his wife Megs, Willow is a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. Anna’s love of life and the enriching experiences of her own Special Days were the charity’s inspiration.
For all those living with a life-threatening illness, every day deserves to be treated as precious. The pressures of diagnosis, treatment and recovery can have a devastating effect on work and family life. Willow aims to redress the balance: providing unique and unforgettable Special Days tailored to individual needs. Some of the most popular Special Day requests to date have included: UK city breaks, theatre trips, sporting events such as attending Premiership football matches, visits to holiday parks and family days to theme parks.
For some young adults a Special Day is their last chance to fulfil a dream, for others it provides the opportunity to simply return some normality back into their lives or mark the end of treatment and a new beginning. But for all, a Special Day creates treasured memories at the most difficult of times.
The beer is a 3.8% honey gold bitter, well balanced with British hops and malts giving a subtle biscuit flavour. We are happily donating 20p from every pint sold of Special Days directly to the Willow Foundation.
