McMullen Open Day raises thousands for Keech Hospice Care
As part of the Hertford Food & Drink Festival we opened up the Brewery once more to the local community to come in and have some fun with us.
On Friday 12th October our indisputably talented Training and Development Chefs Lee and Vince put on one incredible evening at the Pop Up Chefs Top Table serving 5 courses matched perfectly with wine and beer directly from the brewery.
Tickets to this event sold out within just 1 hour of release, and each of our lucky 16 guests dined on some phenomenal seasonal dishes, from a Sweet Potato & Hazelnut Latte to Mackerel Fillet with Root Vegetables to Apple Terrine and all rounded off with the traditional Cheeseboard paired perfectly with McMullen Stronghart.
Saturday saw the return of our annual Mac’s Open Day, a big celebration of food and drink at the Hertford Brewery with some of our suppliers joining us for the day including Bacardi, Pinkster Gin, Fever-Tree Tonic, James Eadie Whisky and many more. Our own secret pub at the brewery (not so secret anymore!) was taken over by the Hertford Brew Club who spent the day giving out free samples of their home brews as well as our own collaboration brew with the club.
Our brewery tours were hosted by a Fergus and Tom McMullen who took guests on a journey through not just the brewery but also time itself starting from 1827 and working all the way through to the current day revealing all our family history, secrets, dramas and achievements.
The whole weekend, for us, was a prime opportunity to raise some much needed funds for Keech Hospice Care, a charity close to our hearts. Keech Hospice provide free, specialist care for adults around Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes who have life-limiting and terminal illnesses.
Their excellent specialist care supports adults and children to live pain and symptom free, to spend untourbled time with their family and friends, to understand what's happening to them, to stay out of hospital and to make the most of the time they have.
We are more than proud to say that together we managed to raise a staggering £2,386.09! Thank you everyone who came and had some fun with us.comments powered by Disqus
